International Symposium on Hydrogen in Matter

13-16th December 2009, IIT Madras, India

The Third International Symposium on Hydrogen in Matter (ISOHIM-09) to be held at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India will bring together scientists and technologists working on the various areas related to the fundamentals and applications of hydrogen. The symposium is expected to combine scientific, technological, and industrial perspectives to engage new ideas on the science and engineering of hydrogen in materials. The symposium covers the following areas:

Fundamentals

Thermodynamics; Diffusion of hydrogen in materials; Kinetics of hydrogen sorption in materials; Hydrogen induced electrical, mechanical, optical and magnetic properties; Heat and mass transfer in hydrogen systems.

Materials

Intermetallics and New materials; Nanomaterials; Organic hydrides; Carbon based nanomaterials; Complex transition metal hydrides.

Production, Storage & Delivery

Photoelectrochemical and biological processes; Purification; Gaseous, liquid and solid state storage; Transportation; Hydrogen safety.

Applications

Energy conversion-combustion, Fuel cells, IC engines, Batteries; Hydrogen incorporation in chemical treatment of metals, electropolishing, etc.; Hydrogen outgassing & embrittlement issues; Hydrogen based electronic devices & sensors; Stationary & mobile powerpack applications; Hydrogen Energy & Environmental issues.
