The first Intelligent Gravimetric Analyser (IGA) was originally developed in the Department of Physics and Space Research at the University of Birmingham (UK) [1]. The UK Science and Engineering Research Council-funded (SERC) project led to a commercialised system, the first of which was installed in 1989. Through the next decade or so the IGA was manufactured, and developed into a full product range, by Hiden Analytical Ltd , from its manufacturing base in Warrington, England. Following the continued success of the IGA range, Hiden Isochema Ltd was formed in January 2002 and now employs over 20 staff at its UK headquarters, and is served by a worldwide network of sales agents and representatives.
